Job Summary

The Truck Technician is responsible mainly for diagnosing failures and recommending appropriate repair procedures primarily for Peterbilt vehicles. The Truck Technician will complete the repair as instructed and provide customers the best possible service, by complying with dealership and factory standards. It is required that the vehicle be kept in a neat and clean condition, all safety measures are followed, and any issues should be reported to management immediately. In addition to repairs, mentorship will be provided to less-skilled technicians.

Job Qualifications

  • Education:A high school diploma or equivalent is required, as is a vocational diploma or degree in diesel or truck repair.
  • Experience:Four to six years of related experience or training or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Licenses:A CDL license is recommended; a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
  • Certifications:Preferred certifications include MX Engine, Cummins Heavy Duty, Cummins Mid-Range, Allison Transmission, or Eaton Transmission.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual Dexterity:Regular use of hands to handle, feel, and reach.
  • Mobility:Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch; occasionally required to sit.
  • Strength:Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision:Specific vision abilities include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work Environment:The noise level can vary from quiet in office settings to moderate or loud in other situations, with sudden loud noises possible.
